7 Sisters 12 mile trail race

May 3, 2015

Date: Sunday, May 3, 2015

Distance: A six-mile out-and-back on a single-track trail for a total distance of 12 miles

The course: The race follows the New England National Scenic Trail (NET) in a westerly direction from Route 116 at the Notch in South Amherst to Old Mountain Road in Hadley and then retraces the route back to Route 116. The single-track trail is marked with white, rectangular blazes. A copy of the map can be found here. The trail is marked as “M-M” on the map. Go to www.newenglandtrail.org for more information about the NET.

Start time: 9 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. depending on which wave you are in.

Entry fees: Pre-entry fee, up until April 24, 2015, is $40, including the registration fee from imATHLETE. Post-entry fee is $60.

Time limit: Runners must reach the halfway point, the turnaround, by noon in order to continue. Data shows that the second half is slower for just about all runners–it is uphill coming back.

Parking: There is limited parking space at the Bunker parking lot. Please consider carpooling to the race. All vehicles must be out of the Bunker Parking Lot by 5 p.m.

Water Stops: There are five water stops along the course, roughly two to two and a half miles apart. We recommend that you bring your own water carrier and refill from the gallon jugs along the route. Only the turnaround is manned and offer fruit, gels, and other goodies.

Awards: As we identify the age-group winners, we will give you your award at the Results Kiosk or mail it to you later.

T-Shirts: We now have short-sleeve technical shirts, in men’s and women’s sizes; the price is $15. You can purchase one when your register online, or at the Registration table on race day.
